Barebacking & HIV Is On The Rise

Barebacking & HIV Is On The Rise!

Gay Guys - HIV and AIDS Rise in Gay Community

Today, 50% of gay men say that they don’t use a condom consistently. Has the message of HIV prevention been working? Many seem to think that it hasn’t made a real effort in promoting the risks, factors, and  consequences of barebacking. The trend of barebacking has been rising since the invention of the hook-up app. The funny thing is, we have also been seeing an increase in HIV/AIDS statistics. Is there a connection?

Arkansas students barred over HIV speculation

The Pea Ridge, Arkansas school district has come under fire for denying three siblings the right to attend school based on speculation that they may be HIV-positive. The school found in its records that one of the children and their birth mother are HIV-positive.

Administrators informed the children’s foster parents that they would not be allowed back to school until they each test negative for HIV and submit the results. Two of the children are in special needs classes, and the Disability Rights Center (DRC) of Arkansas has taken the lead in advocating for all three siblings to return to school.

New HIV guidelines urge focus on gay men, sex workers

Five key groups, including gay men, prostitutes and prisoners, have stubbornly high rates of HIV that are threatening progress in the global AIDS battle, and need to be prioritized in plans to target the virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday, July 11, 2014.

These people are most at risk of becoming infected with the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS, yet are least likely to get HIV prevention, testing and treatment services, the Geneva-based United Nations health agency said.

“Globally we are failing certain populations that have the greatest risk yet we know have universally poorer access to health services. These are men who have sex with men, sex workers, transgender persons, specifically transgender women, persons who inject drugs and persons who are in prisons or other closed settings,” Gottfried Hirnschall, director of the WHO’s HIV department, told reporters at a briefing.

HIV-Killing Condoms: The Real Story

As Told by the Active Ingredient
In 2005, an estimated 4.1 million people worldwide were newly infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (UNAIDS 2006). — Rupp, Rosenthal and Stanberry, 2007
Who am I?

My name is SPL 7013. I am the active ingredient in those fancy new “HIV-killing condoms” you’ve been hearing about on Facebook and Twitter. The Washington Post claimed I could kill the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS. That is not true, for several reasons which I will get into later.

The condoms that use me are produced by Starpharma, a major condom manufacturer in Australia. Starpharma claims that I (or the VivaGel for which I am the active ingredient at 3% weight/weight) have “been shown in laboratory studies to inactivate up to 99.9% of viruses, including HIV, the herpes virus (HSV), and the human papillomavirus (HPV), which are common viruses that cause sexually transmitted infections (STIs).” In the form of VivaGel, I have also been used in clinical trials testing for antiviral effects and treatment of bacterial vaginosis.

I suppose you could call me a bit of a hero of late! But, I’m afraid, I’ve let all this media attention get to my head.

Video: Former Adult Model Snow Bunni Says “Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold”!

I think you EVERYONE should take a minute to watch this and acknowledge the fact that HIV/AIDS is still out there. Lately I’ve come across people who have sex compulsively and in several cases unprotected. A simple unprotected one night stand should not cost you your health.

There are people throughout the U.S that take this disease as a sort of weapon. You may have com across and read throughout Facebook that there are some men and women that transmit this disease intentionally for reasons of their immature accord. Please stay safe and watch what you do.

HIV-Positive Student Secretly Videotapes Himself Having Unprotected Sex With 31 People In 4 Months

HIV-Positive Student Secretly Videotapes Himself Having Unprotected Sex With 31 People In 4 Months.

Published on Jan 19, 2014

Prosecutors tell News 4 they now know more than 30 people could have gotten HIV from a former student at Lindenwood University who allegedly knew he had the deadly disease. He is accused of knowingly giving it to others.

In October, Michael Johnson, 22, was charged with exposing sexual partners to HIV. Police later discovered multiple videos of Johnson having unprotected sex.

They believe those partners were unaware Johnson was HIV positive and that they were being videotaped.

The startling details were revealed after hidden camera sex tapes were uncovered, according to prosecutors.

“On that laptop were 32 videos engaged in sexual acts with Mr. Johnson,” said Tim Lohmar, St. Charles County prosecutor.

Lohmar said Johnson can be seen with 31 unidentified people in videos taken over four months. Most of the videos were shot on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Johnson has already been charged with five counts of knowingly transmitting the disease.

“It’s safe to say that numerous of those videos were taken inside his dorm room; we know that because we recognize the furniture,”

Lohmar said most of victims not only likely had no idea they were being video-taped; they were clueless that Johnson had HIV.

That’s why Lohmar wants any potential victims to come forward immediately. It’s a matter not only of their individual safety but public safety as well.

Lindenwood University school officials tell News 4 they will assist law enforcement with identifying victims. They say they had no idea the videos existed until just a few days ago.

“I think it’s really scary, thinking someone like that is on campus, not thinking about others,” said Student Jenny Counts.
Students are shaken up by this latest news, but glad that Johnson is still behind bars for now.

If convicted of knowingly transmitting HIV, he could get up to life in prison.
