Tom Hardy to play twin gangsters who were both gay in new film Legend

Hardy portrays Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) who ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and ’60s

It’s already known that Tom Hardy will portray gay singer Elton John in an upcoming biopic.

Now it turns out that the gangster twins he plays in the film Legend – Ronald and Reggie Kray (aka the Kray Twins) – were also both gay.

The film is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2015. It tells the story of the infamous twins who started a gang that ran East London’s underworld in the 1950s and ’60s called The Firm.

The information about their sexuality has been revealed by Freddie ‘Brown Bread’ Foreman, 83, who worked for the pair.

Foreman claims Ronald Kray acknowledged to being gay when he was a teenager and that his brother’s marriage to Frances Shea was a sham and never consummated, according to The Daily Mail.

Shea committed suicide two years after the 1965 marriage.

;The film apparently has Reggie looking out of his prison window and saying “I love you Frances” but he certainly did not love her like a husband loves a wife,’ Foreman says.

‘They never had sex.’
