Art goes gay for Disney Characters
Disney characters turn gay for art
Some of our favourite Disney characters have wished upon a star and realized just how gay they are.
From Hercules and Aladdin playing mouth-to-mouth to fairytale princesses turned lesbian, Mexican artist José Rodolfo Loazia Ontiveros has re-written straight fairytales with gay twists.
Dubbed Disasterland, the set of artworks shows how Disney characters would fare in the real world and succumb to the pressures of modern day life, and their gay desires.
Snow White is on the drink whilst Cinderella is shaving off her hair in a Britney-style breakdown as part of the artist’s work.
The project is Loazia Ontiveros’ tribute to popular culture and how ‘the stage is set for fantasy to collapse and surrender to the inevitable apocalypse of [the] 21st century’.
Some of the artwork sold for over $1000 (€750 £650) a piece at the LA gallery opening.
